The new Avengers: Infinity War movie comes out today! My brother is super excited to see it because he loves superheros. One of his favorite superheroes is Captain America. So I decided to make a Captain America inspired craft for his room! I came up with this super fun and cool looking glitter painting of Captain America’s shield! This DIY Captain America Shield Wall Art is the perfect gift for any Captain America fan! The Captain America Glitter Painting also glows in the dark! You can choose any superhero you’d like, or do the entire Avengers: Infinity War cast!
You will need:
- A Square Canvas
- Red and Blue Glitter
- White Glow-in-the-Dark Glitter
- Mod Podge
- A Paint Brush
- A Pencil
First, draw Captain America’s Shield onto the canvas. You can freehand it for a more artsy look or you can trace bowls and plate to get perfect circles! You can also print out the logo, cut it out, and use that to trace.
Cover the parts that are supposed to be red on the shield with Mod Podge. Try to becareful and not go outside of the lines you drew. Going on top of the line is okay since we don’t want the lines to show through. Work fast so the Mod Podge doesn’t dry out.
Now place the canvas on a big sheet of paper and cover the Mod Podge with red glitter. Tap the canvas so the red glitter spreads and covers all the Mod Podge. Shake off an excess glitter. Put this aside and let it dry before you move on to the next step. Use the piece of paper to help you gather the rest of the glitter back into the bottle.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the blue glitter. Make sure to cover the edges as well! Let it dry and do the steps again with the glow-in-the-dark glitter.
Once everything is fully dry, you can coat the entire canvas with another layer of Mod Podge to keep the glitter from falling off.
That’s it! Hang it on your wall and admire your super cool Captain America art piece!
